GETTING STARTED

What to Expect:
Your First Visit

How to prepare, what we test, and what happens after your initial consultation.

Your Path to Optimization

Your first visit to Moonshot Medical isn't a quick prescription mill appointment. We take the time to understand your symptoms, goals, and history—then run comprehensive labs to get the full picture before recommending treatment.

Here's exactly what to expect at each step of the process.

Before Your Visit

Booking Your Consultation

Schedule online or call our office. We'll send you intake forms to complete before your appointment. These cover your medical history, current medications, symptoms, and goals.

What to Bring

  • Photo ID
  • List of current medications and supplements
  • Any recent lab results (within 6 months)
  • List of symptoms you're experiencing

Fasting Requirements

Fast for 10-12 hours before your appointment if we're running labs. Water, black coffee, and plain tea are fine. Fasting ensures accurate readings for glucose, insulin, and lipid panels.

The Consultation

1. Symptom Review

We start by discussing your symptoms in detail. Fatigue, weight changes, mood issues, sleep problems, libido, brain fog, recovery—everything is relevant. We want to understand not just what you're experiencing, but when it started and how it's affecting your life.

2. Medical History

We review your complete medical history, family history, and any previous treatments you've tried. This helps us identify patterns and rule out conditions that might need additional attention.

3. Goals Discussion

What does "feeling better" look like for you? Are you focused on energy? Body composition? Athletic performance? Sleep? Clarity? We tailor our approach to your specific goals, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

4. Physical Assessment

Depending on your situation, we may check vital signs, body composition, and other relevant physical markers.

Comprehensive Lab Work

We run extensive labs—far more than a typical primary care visit. This isn't about checking a box; it's about getting the complete picture.

After Your Labs

Results Review (3-7 Days)

Labs typically take 3-7 days to process. Once they're in, we schedule a follow-up (in-person or virtual) to review your results in detail. We don't just look at whether you're "in range"—we look at where you are within the range and what optimal levels look like for your age and goals.

Treatment Planning

Based on your symptoms, goals, and lab results, we create a personalized treatment plan. This might include hormone optimization, lifestyle modifications, supplements, or medications. We explain the rationale for each recommendation and answer all your questions.

Informed Consent

Before starting any treatment, we review benefits, risks, and alternatives. You'll understand exactly what you're taking, why, and what to expect. No surprises.

Ongoing Care

Treatment doesn't end after your first prescription. We follow up regularly to monitor your response, adjust dosing, and recheck labs. Most patients have follow-up labs at 6-8 weeks, then every 3-6 months once stable.

You'll have direct access to our clinical team for questions between visits. We're partners in your health, not a one-and-done prescription service.

What Makes Us Different

Comprehensive Testing

We run extensive panels, not just the basics. You can't optimize what you haven't measured.

Time With Providers

Your consultation isn't rushed. We take the time to understand your situation and answer your questions.

Optimal vs Normal

"Normal" ranges include everyone from sick to healthy. We aim for optimal levels based on your goals.

Ongoing Optimization

Regular follow-ups and adjustments ensure you're getting the best possible results.
