WOMEN'S HORMONE OPTIMIZATION IN PARK RIDGE
Comprehensive hormone testing and in-person care for perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal imbalance. Not just a TSH check.
THE PROBLEM WITH STANDARD HORMONE CARE
Most women are told their labs are "normal" while they feel anything but. The issue isn't you—it's the testing.
What Most Doctors Do
- • Check TSH only (miss thyroid dysfunction)
- • Don't test estradiol, progesterone, or testosterone
- • Don't check insulin or metabolic markers
- • Use "normal" ranges that include sick people
- • Prescribe birth control or antidepressants for hormone symptoms
You hear: "Your labs are fine. It's just stress. Here's an antidepressant."
What Moonshot Does
- • Full thyroid panel (TSH, Free T3, Free T4, antibodies)
- • Estradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone
- • DHEA-S, cortisol, insulin, HbA1c
- • Vitamin D, B12, iron/ferritin, inflammation markers
- • 60+ biomarkers total, interpreted using optimal ranges
You get: A complete picture of what's actually happening hormonally—and a plan to fix it.
WHO WE HELP
Perimenopause
The hormonal shift can start in your late 30s. Irregular cycles, sleep disruption, anxiety, weight gain, brain fog—these aren't "just stress." They're often progesterone decline and estrogen fluctuation that your PCP isn't testing for.
Read our perimenopause guide →Menopause
Hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, bone loss, mood changes, and accelerated aging. Hormone replacement therapy is the most effective treatment—and safer than decades of misinformation led women to believe.
Why progesterone matters →General Imbalance
Fatigue, low libido, weight gain, hair changes, mood swings—at any age. These symptoms often point to thyroid dysfunction, low testosterone, progesterone deficiency, or insulin resistance. We test for all of it.
Testosterone for women →OUR TREATMENT APPROACH
Comprehensive Testing First
We never prescribe hormones without a full picture. Our 60+ biomarker panel gives us the data to understand exactly what's happening—not just guess based on symptoms. Every treatment decision is backed by lab data and reviewed with you in person.
Bioidentical Hormones When Appropriate
BHRT (bioidentical hormone replacement therapy) uses hormones molecularly identical to what your body produces—estradiol, progesterone, testosterone. These are not the synthetic progestins from the WHI study that gave HRT a bad reputation. We use the lowest effective doses with regular monitoring.
Beyond Just Hormones
Hormones don't exist in a vacuum. We also address thyroid optimization, insulin resistance, vitamin deficiencies, inflammation, and sleep—all of which affect how you feel and how hormones function. Treating only one piece often doesn't work.
Ongoing Monitoring & Adjustment
Hormone optimization isn't a one-time event. We monitor your labs, adjust doses, and track how you feel over time. Regular follow-ups ensure your protocol continues to work as your body changes.

COMMON QUESTIONS
I'm only 38—can I have hormone issues?
Yes. Perimenopause can start in the late 30s, and progesterone often begins declining years before periods become irregular. Thyroid dysfunction, low testosterone, and insulin resistance can occur at any age. If you have symptoms, testing is the only way to know.
Isn't hormone therapy dangerous?
The fear of HRT largely stems from the 2002 Women's Health Initiative study, which used synthetic progestins (not bioidentical progesterone) in older women who were years past menopause. Modern bioidentical HRT, started in the perimenopausal window with proper monitoring, has a much better safety profile. We use evidence-based protocols.
My doctor says my TSH is normal. Why do I still feel terrible?
Because TSH alone doesn't tell the whole thyroid story. Your TSH can be "normal" while Free T3 (the active hormone) is low and thyroid antibodies are elevated. We test the complete thyroid panel plus all the hormones that interact with thyroid function.
Do women need testosterone?
Yes. Women produce testosterone too, and it declines with age. Low testosterone in women causes fatigue, low libido, brain fog, muscle loss, and mood changes. At appropriate doses (much lower than men), testosterone optimization can be transformative. Learn more about testosterone for women.
What forms of BHRT do you offer?
We offer multiple delivery methods depending on what's appropriate for your situation: topical creams, oral progesterone, injectable testosterone, and pellet therapy. The best method depends on which hormones need optimization, your preferences, and your lab results.
