Botox and Jeuveau are not retail products. They are FDA-regulated prescription neuromodulators, and what I see most often when patients come to me from somewhere else is dosing without a plan — too much in the forehead and the brow drops; too little in the glabella and the "11" lines come back in six weeks.
What we do here is straightforward. Full medical history. A real conversation about the result you want. A photograph for your file. Conservative initial dosing — because under-dosing is correctable at two weeks, and over-dosing means you live with it for three months.
If you're a first-timer, expect to leave the room with fewer units than you might have gotten elsewhere. If the result needs more at the two-week check, we add it then. That's the standard of care, and it's how you get a natural-looking result instead of a frozen one.
WHAT WE TREAT
Botulinum toxin Type A is FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe glabellar lines, and used in clinical practice for forehead and crow's feet.
Glabellar Lines (the "11s")
FDA-approved indication. The vertical lines between the eyebrows caused by corrugator and procerus muscle activity. The most predictable area for neuromodulators.
Typical dose: 20–25 units
Forehead Lines
Horizontal frontalis lines. Requires careful dosing — too much and the brow drops. We assess resting brow position before treating and dose conservatively.
Typical dose: 8–20 units
Crow's Feet
Lateral canthal lines from orbicularis oculi activity. Smaller dose, more superficial placement. Softens smile lines without freezing natural expression.
Typical dose: 8–12 units per side
PRICING
Flat per-unit pricing. Total varies by treatment area and dose. We tell you the unit count and total before you treat.
- Glabellar lines ("11s")~$240 – $300
- Forehead lines~$96 – $240
- Crow's feet (both sides)~$192 – $288
Ranges are estimates based on typical dosing. Your actual unit count is determined after assessment. If a touch-up is needed at a follow-up visit, additional units are billed at the same per-unit rate.
WHAT TO EXPECT
1. Book + intake
Book your Wednesday slot. We'll send intake forms in advance: medical history, current medications, prior aesthetic treatments, and a consent form. Arrive 10 minutes early to wrap up paperwork.
2. Consult + treatment
Ellen reviews your goals, takes a baseline photograph, and confirms unit count and total before injecting. Treatment is fast — usually under 10 minutes. Tiny needle, minimal discomfort.
3. Two-week check
Free follow-up at 14 days. By then the full effect has set in — if it needs adjusting, we adjust. Most first-time patients use this visit; it's why we under-dose initially.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
A few simple steps in the 24–48 hours before treatment reduce bruising and make the result more predictable.
Do
- · Eat normally and stay hydrated
- · Arrive with a clean face — no makeup or lotions in the treatment area
- · Bring a list of current medications and supplements
- · Tell us about any recent illness, allergies, or prior aesthetic work
Don't
- · Drink alcohol for 24 hours before — increases bruising
- · Take blood thinners, fish oil, or high-dose vitamin E (unless prescribed)
- · Schedule injections within 2 weeks of a major event — let swelling/bruising resolve
- · Book if pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
The first 24 hours matter. Following these guidelines reduces the risk of diffusion into adjacent muscles and protects your result.
Do
- · Expect a mild headache for the first day — normal
- · Be patient — full results take 10–14 days
- · Schedule your two-week follow-up
- · Stay upright for 4 hours after treatment
- · Gently contract treated muscles for the first hour (frown, squint, raise brows)
Don't (first 24 hours)
- · Touch, rub, or massage your face
- · Bend over or lie flat for 4 hours
- · Exercise for 24 hours
- · Drink alcohol for 24 hours
- · Use saunas, hot tubs, or heated yoga for 72 hours
- · Take blood thinners unless prescribed
Call us at (224) 435-4280 if you notice severe pain, asymmetry, eyelid drooping, vision changes, or difficulty swallowing.
WHY A REAL CLINIC, NOT A MEDSPA
Intake matters
Every patient gets a documented medical history, contraindication screen, medication review, and goal discussion before any injection. That's the standard of care. It is also routinely skipped in high-volume settings.
Anatomy isn't a template
Brow position, frontalis activity, prior treatments, and asymmetries change where and how much to inject. Cookie-cutter dosing produces cookie-cutter results — and occasionally complications. We treat your face, not a diagram.
Continuity of care
If something needs adjusting at two weeks — touch-up, asymmetry correction, brow lift compensation — you book back in with the same injector. Same provider, same chart, same protocol.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Is Jeuveau the same as Botox?
Same drug class — both are botulinum toxin Type A neuromodulators. Jeuveau (prabotulinumtoxinA-xvfs) is FDA-approved for moderate-to-severe glabellar lines in adults. Onset, duration, and unit dosing in the glabellar region are essentially equivalent to Botox. The differences are the manufacturer (Evolus vs Allergan), the manufacturing process, and the price point.
How soon will I see results?
Most patients see relaxation begin within 2–3 days, with full effect by 10–14 days. The two-week mark is when we assess and adjust if needed. Results typically last 3–4 months.
Is the procedure painful?
Most patients describe it as a small pinch. We use a fine-gauge needle, and the entire treatment is usually under 10 minutes. Topical numbing or ice is available if you'd like — most patients don't request it after the first time.
What are the side effects?
Common: mild bruising, swelling, or redness at injection sites, and a mild headache for 24 hours. Less common: temporary asymmetry, eyelid heaviness, or brow drop — typically related to dose or diffusion and resolves as the drug wears off. Rare: hypersensitivity reaction. We screen for contraindications at intake and review all risks before treatment.
Can Botox / Jeuveau treat medical conditions?
Botulinum toxin Type A has approved medical uses including chronic migraine, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), muscle spasticity, and certain bladder disorders. Our practice focuses on aesthetic indications. If you're seeking neuromodulator therapy for a medical condition, we can refer you to an appropriate specialist.
Who shouldn't get neuromodulator injections?
Patients with known hypersensitivity to botulinum toxin Type A, neuromuscular disorders (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton, ALS), active infection at the injection site, or anyone pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to conceive. We screen for all of these at intake.
Can I combine this with other treatments?
Yes. Many patients pair neuromodulators with PRP microneedling, medical-grade skincare, and other aesthetic protocols. We sequence treatments so they don't overlap — for example, neuromodulators first, then microneedling 1–2 weeks later.
What's your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice for cancellations or reschedules. Late cancellations and no-shows are subject to a fee — consultation visits $50, injectable appointments $150. The full policy is on your booking confirmation.
